Meet me at the Capitol for the privilege of corporately acknowledging God and glorifying Him in spirit and in truth.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not inclined to separate my faith from ‘politics’. If I did, I would not be fulfilling the Great Commission. The Lord knows, there are a lot of people in Olympia, as there are in every arena, who desperately need a Savior. It’s our job to bring them His message, the only full-proof message that promises everlasting hope and redemption!
In a week, the gavel will go down in the chambers of our State Legislature, thereby, marking the beginning of the 2020 Legislative Session. As predicted, some very bad bills are already in motion. All the more reason for us to show up as a reasonable and faithful witness of the truth, established a long, long time ago, “in the beginning”.
Every issue we’re challenged with today can be traced back to Genesis, to the Garden, where Satan resolved to destroy all God created and called “good” – human life, male and female, the marriage union, the family unit, parents rights and responsibilities and, most importantly, our relationship with God. The root of our challenges couldn’t be clearer.
Our enemy, was God’s enemy first, and there’s only one sure way to defeat him, through preaching and living according to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That is where our ultimate victory lies!
We are commanded to be salt and LIGHT!
In Psalms 43, King David pleaded with God to make things better, to deliver him “from an ungodly nation”. He further offered God some advice for making things right: “Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling!’ Here’s the crux of the matter; David begged for God’s deliverance so he could (inflections are mine) “go to the altar of God, to God his exceeding joy, so he could praise Him with the lyre, O God, my God.” David was longing for what we all too often take for granted, religious freedom.
It would appear God agreed with David’s advice because he duly sent forth the ultimate liberator of our souls, His only Son, Jesus. Jesus, in turn, commissioned us to not just reflect light, but to be a direct lightto a lost world. We have the opportunity to do just that on Monday, January 27, 2020, from 11am-noon, as we Rally for Religious Freedom on the North Steps of the State Capitol Legislative Building.
I hope you will make every effort to join the celebration and encourage others to join you. “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters dwell in unity!” ~ Psalms 133:1
