June 15, 2009 “Conservatives” Are Single-Largest Ideological Group Percentage of “liberals” higher this decade than in early ’90s by Lydia Saad

The number of Americans who support same-sex marriage has plunged over the last few months, according to a new poll. 

President Obama has chosen Sonia Sotomayor as his Supreme Court nominee to replace Justice Souter. Shortly after this announcement, our parent organization, the Family Research Council, issued this statement:

David Harsanyi, a Denver Post Staff Columnist, recently authored an article on the changing national debate surrounding the abortion issue and his own thoughts on the pro-life position. A confessing secular Atheist, David does not pretend to embrace a religious objection to abortion but because of the advancement of medical technology and the illogical position of the pro-choice movement, David has seemingly joined the pro-life camp.

This year, WA State voters approved Initiative 1000, physician assisted suicide. Washington joined Oregon in becoming the second state to allow assisted suicide.

Fresh from the Unified School District in Alameda, CA (a suburb of San Francisco and Oakland), a group of parents are outraged over an attempt by school administration officials to force elementary school children to be subjected to questionable material over the objections of parents. These materials include homosexual-themed books, yearly instruction on the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) lifestyle and education on sexual orientation stereotypes.

President Obama created wide spread controversy this year as he accepted Notre Dame's invitation to both speak at their  commencement ceremony and receive an honorary degree. The traditionally Catholic school is home to thousands of Catholic students who support the pro-life position. Petitions were started, protests were conducted and arrests took place but the school refused to rescind their invitation to President Obama.

The month of May has been designated as the official National Foster Care Month in the United States. Currently, close to 500,000 children are in the foster care system with another 12 million that have been previously raised in foster homes.

A brand new Gallup Poll, just released today, shows support for the Pro-Life movement at an all time high. For the first time since Gallup Poll began measuring this statistic, the Pro-Life worldview is shown to be supported by 51% of the American people.
