HB 2837
Concerning Limited Service Pregnancy Centers
Description
HB 2837 and SB 6452 defines limited service pregnancy centers as organizations that advertise, offer, or provide pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, and information about adoption or abortion, but doesn’t provide either prenatal medical care, comprehensive birth control services, abortion or abortion referrals. These centers are required to advertise that they do not provide these services both on the building and upon first contact with a patient.
Why this is important to us: These bills are a blatant attempt to harass and shut down crisis pregnancy centers not offering abortion. Although the first page of the bills state the importance of medically accurate information and complete disclosure to the patient concerning his or her medical information and tests, these statements mask the finger pointed at non-abortion centers further on in the bills.
